Kayla found me through her sister’s boyfriend who I went to Film school with. It’s so fun to see how I find new clients and how past life experiences bring new clients now. Life is so awesome that way isn’t it?!
Kayla and I hit it off right away on our first phone call. She told me all about how Dan and Kayla met through work many years ago before they moved from Langley to Squamish before Dan joined the RCMP. After bonding in Mexico they have been inseparable ever since.
I loved getting to know her and her strong, quiet and sweet Fiancé. They love their new hometown of Squamish so I know we needed to do their session highlighting the best parts of the small city: the mountains and ocean! We did their engagement session first in Rose Park with the Squamish chief in the backdrop and then drove along the Sea to Sky highway to finish the session at Porteau Cove. And the best part is that there were mountains around us no matter where we looked in both locations. The views made my heart shore! This is hands down the reason why the sea to sky highway is one of my favorite places on earth, mountains make my soul so happy and feel at peace.
It took place in our beautiful fall, which is my absolute favorite time of year so of course, we had to incorporate fall colors. Between the leaves that fell all over the ground, the leaf fight and the beautiful fall painted background the session was filled with the best that Squamish and our British Columbia fall have to offer.
Wow! What an amazing session and we had so much fun. It was a perfect way for us to get to know each other before their wedding in November.
Now enjoy everything the Squamish, British Columbia area has to offer.
Here are Kayla’s words about our time together:
“From the first phone call I had with Laura, I felt like we were in good hands. Dan and I were strangers to the world of photo shoots, but Laura is not! She knows what she is doing, and does it beautifully with as much fun and laughter as professionalism. I appreciated her willingness to work with us and our budget, and that she didn’t shy away from the challenge of capturing our small restaurant wedding. All our family and friends raved about her, and she was amazing with the kids! We trusted her instincts when she took us running through the crowded, rainy streets of Gastown and it was the best decision ever. Laura has captured so many incredible moments that we’ll get to enjoy for years to come. Thank you “

Sam actually works with my mom and found my work through her originally. From the first skype call I loved chatting with her, we got along so well and had a couples sessions together this year. These two are too cute and I really enjoyed getting to know them before, during and after their session. […]
Phay and I met in pretty serial and unfortunate circumstances: Just over a year ago I was in a car accident that totaled my car on the highway towards Maple Ridge. Phay stopped with her fiance on the side of the road and helped me collect my things and drove me home, bless her.
About 7 months later I was a vendor at a wedding show and at some point this girl I somehow recognized, but wasn’t quite sure where from, walks up to my booth and asked me “Does your family live in Powell River?”
Me: “Yes, why are you from there?”
Phay: “I think I picked you up after your accident in September”
Me:”Oh yes! Hi!”
This amazing girl ended up winning the grand wedding at the show which was worth $10,000. I can honestly not think of anyone more deserving. Her and her fiance one a donut wall, a limo, flowers, catering and so much more. They got to go all out for their wedding and had a blast!
I was part of that big prize and we ended up doing a Goddess/Boudoir session. On a chilly early morning I picked her up in Burnaby and we drove to Maple Ridge to my favorite location, Golden Ears Park. We had a dream of a session and laughed and had fun the whole time.
This woman is so incredibly beautiful inside and out and has a heart of gold. She is a stage performer, a choreographer, and a badass with a sword(see below). She has gone through a lot and has problems with her body that make it difficult for her to do what she loves. But she perseveres and succeeds and inspires us all.
Not only was it an honor and joy to photograph her(I mean look at these killer photos!) but it was also meeting and getting to know her that touched me.
Give this bombshell some love ❤️
This is a fun story and a long one. Pascal’s family and my family have been close friends since we moved to Canada, his parents, Jutta and Bernd, are my Godparents actually, and they all mean the world for me. A few years ago I photographed Pascal and Alison’s wedding at this stunning mansion, in […]
I loved this session and enjoyed getting to know Zain’s parents. We started their session in their home and did some cuddling, swaddling and more. Then we headed to a park near their Vancouver, British Columbia home where we finished off their wonderful newborn session. Simple and sweet, just like I like it. ❤️ Enjoy!
In June I was at an adults summer camp for photographers for a week. It took place Bowen Island which lays just off the coast of Vancouver, just drive through North Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver and catch the smallest of the BC Ferries to a tiny, characteristic and charming little island.
The Camp Collective was run by two very talented local photographers: Sara Rogers and Tara Lilly and along with many other talented photographers we got to hang out, relax, laugh till it hurt and be creative together. It was the exact pick me up I needed.
We had one special guest along with us and though she is not a photographer, yet, her parents are uber talented and were one of our counselors: Mike and Shari .I had the joy of hanging out with their world traveled, adventurous and adorable daughter, Auggie. This little one, in one year, has almost out traveled me! She’s my inspiration to travel a heck of a lot more from now on!
So enjoy all the Auggie cuteness, she is quite the character ❤️
This beautiful mama to be wanted a simple, soft and elegant maternity session before she had her baby girl. We did it in her Burnaby apartment with the blinds closed for the softest light. She wore her favorite Kelvin Kleins and was the pictures of beauty. I still love the photos we created ❤️ Enjoy!
This little girl is a little miracle to her wonderful parents. She is what is considered a rainbow baby. A rainbow baby is a baby born after the family has suffered a miscarriage. She is such a blessing and the happiest little girl. I got the honor of photographing her in January and getting to […]
Last January, I had this fun idea of a non-traditional wedding or elopement that was based around a black dress from Isabelle’s Bridal.
It was so perfect that around the same time we got a tone of snow which made the session that much better! With hair and makeup done by the oh so talented Meagan of Paragon Makeup design and the stunning bouquet by one of my favorite florist shops in town: Concept Floral, the session was a dream despite us all freezing our toes and fingertips off.
I’ve come to realize I love winter weddings and will take the snow and cold over a sweaty hot summer day anytime! Seymour mountain, in North Vancouver, was an excellent choice for this shoot. The snow was deep and hung on all the trees, a winter wonderland only 20 minutes from Vancouver, BC.
I can’t wait to photograph more winter and adventurous elopements all over British Columbia and throughout Canada. I dream about a Banff intimate wedding or elopement.
Well without further ado, enjoy this fun snow elopement style session.
