welcome to

Sam actually works with my mom and found my work through her originally. From the first skype call I loved chatting with her, we got along so well and had a couples sessions together this year. These two are too cute and I really enjoyed getting to know them before, during and after their session. […]

Phay and I met in pretty serial and unfortunate circumstances: Just over a year ago I was in a car accident that totaled my car on the highway towards Maple Ridge. Phay stopped with her fiance on the side of the road and helped me collect my things and drove me home, bless her. About […]

This is a fun story and a long one.

Pascal’s family and my family have been close friends since we moved to Canada, his parents, Jutta and Bernd, are my Godparents actually, and they all mean the world for me.

A few years ago I photographed Pascal and Alison’s wedding at this stunning mansion, in Madeira Park on the Sunshine Coast, that they rented for the weekend where all their closest friends and family stayed together. It was a weekend to remember.

Rewind a little… about 10 years before that Alison and Pascal met on their first day on campus, at The University of Victoria. Pascal’s parent’s, barely made it back home to Vanderhoof BC about 11 hours away, received a phone call from their son saying that he met a girl. Who knew that she would be the girl. She is from Scottland, and they spend every moment together while she was there for her exchange, when she went back Pascal did an exchange there, they did long distance and eventually, Alison called Vancouver, Canada home for good. Together 10 years they finally decided to tie the knot and now a few years later they have a beautiful baby boy named Callum. The first grandchild of both sides of the family.

So the whole family came for a visit, only missing Alison’s brothers who couldn’t make the overseas trip this time. We had to capture the occasion because who knows when they’d all be in the same place again?

The session was so fun as I captured each family member interact, fall even more in love and watch in awe over this beautiful boy. It was an honor to be able to capture this and to have gotten to meet him and do my own admiring as I cradled him around their North Vancouver home.

I hope you enjoy it!

I loved this session and enjoyed getting to know Zain’s parents. We started their session in their home and did some cuddling, swaddling and more. Then we headed to a park near their Vancouver, British Columbia home where we finished off their wonderful newborn session. Simple and sweet, just like I like it. ❤️ Enjoy!

Thank you for taking the time out of your Wednesday evening to read this, I am so excited to share with you that there is a huge change coming to Little Mohr Photography and my life. It’s something that has been brewing for a while under the surface. As you may know, I am a huge traveler, I’ve been traveling since I was 6 months old and have been on more planes than I can count. It’s been a passion of mine that I continued to pursue into my adult life.

This year I have been feeling the urge to travel and as I saw numerous friends hit the road, by car and plane I kept thinking “I want to just travel for a while… but I can’t because I love Vancouver… because my business is finally running semi-smoothly and better than ever… I don’t want to lose my momentum”. But then all of the sudden the thought came to me: “If not now then when? What if I get busier… if I get into a serious relationship… or who knows? What’s truly holding me here?” I came to the realization that I would regret it more if I didn’t take the time to do this than if I don’t.

So I’ve decided that I will be letting go of my apartment, sell all my belongings(except my cameras, laptop, hard drives, select clothes, my journals, and a couple heirloom items) and I will spend the next 1 year traveling through North America and South America. 8 months road trip through Canada and the USA and 4 months backpacking through South America.

After my month-long road trip in July(8000 km later), which was the perfect way to test if I really wanted to do this or not, I figured out how gorgeous Canada is, how I’ve taken it for granted and I want to see all of it! I also figured out what I need to adjust to prepare for a longer trip.

So here’s the concept:

I will spend a year with limited living costs traveling and photographing humans of all walks of life in their amazing cities, mountains, fields, by the ocean, their unique homes and anything else that inspired me. I want to meet new people from all over these two continents and see places I’ve never been too. All while being motivated by inspiration not by money. Don’t get me wrong I will still need to make money but only enough to keep going, pay for food, gas, and necessities. I want to take a pause from the rat race of normal everyday life and I want to take my time to enjoy a sunset, to get to know a person while talking into the middle of the night, I want to dance until morning, I want to hike the Rocky Mountains and sleep in a tent and wake up at sunrise,  I want to walk the streets aimlessly of a new city, I want to swim in the Atlantic ocean for the first time, I want to perfect my Spanish, I want to experience fall in Ontario and the lively culture of Montreal and New Orleans. Who knows what the year will bring.

Throughout all this, I want to capture all these moments, create fun sessions and photograph the most amazing souls. Or I will learn the art of self-portraiture when I am alone. The goal is to create work I am really proud of and only work when I am inspired. I’ll spend the year improving my skill, my eye and travel portfolio. It’s my version of spending a season working in Whistler(or any other ski resort), because you do it almost every day and you have the time to try new things, with new people you improve exponentially.

Here’s my rough plan:

I will leave Vancouver January 1, 2019, and will be on the go until January 2020(may change).

January-March

I will first head down the West coast through Washington, Oregan, California, Arizona, New Mexico and then back to Vancouver through Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Montana and Idaho.

March-July

At the beginning of March, I will fly to Chile and am planning to do a motorcycle trip with my dad for a week or two weeks or so. At the end of March, I will be headed to Peru to meet up with my BFF who is from there. I’ll meet her family and we will travel around the country. The other countries I plan to travel to are Argentina, Brazil and Columbia not necessarily in that order.

July-August

I will return to Vancouver at the beginning of July where I will head to Vancouver Island. Exploring South and North Island and also the gulf island(as many as I can/want to). Next, I’ll head up through the interior of BC to Prince Rupert and head over to Haida Gwaii. I’ll head north to Alaska and back down through the Yukon, The North West Territories and back south through Manitoba before heading back to Vancouver and Kelowna for a wedding at the beginning of September.

September-December/January 2020

Early September I head over the east coast driving through Washington, Montana, North and South Carolina, Minnesota, Wisconson, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan before re-entering Canada to go to Toronto. I’ll head north through Ontario and eventually over to Quebec before going to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

I’ll go back into The States through Maine and head south hitting as many places as I can on the way down to Florida, including New York City, Washington DC, and North Carolina(of course because I’m a huge Nicolas Sparks fan 😂). I’ll definitely be hitting up New Orleans but from there I’ll back my way back slowly through the US towards Vancouver, I don’t have a plan how I will go because I want to see who reaches out to me and weather dependent I may have to avoid some places. I am open to ideas, suggestions and meeting up!

How might this affect you?

Well, as I mentioned I want to be “working”/photographing in as many beautiful places as I can throughout my trip. So if you are planning a trip to anywhere I’ll be, or you live in the area I’ll be and you are interested in being photographed, meeting up or collaborating I’d love to hear from you! I would love to photograph couples, families, kids, newborns, boudoir goddess sessions and even weddings/elopements. I will be offering very discounted rates from my current rates and in special circumstances, I will do complimentary/by donation sessions(more on this in a different post).

If you are a professional/fulltime photographer: I’d love to meet up with as many photographers as possible. I’d love for you to show me your area and I’ll photograph you and your partner, your family or do an epic Goddess Session(for the lady togs out there). We can also just meet up and shoot each other or go for a hike, explore your city or chat over drinks/coffee. Reach out!

I need you help!

I need your help spreading the word! If you know anyone living in the areas I am going please share this post on your timeline or with them and see if they are interested in working with me. Share this post, what I’m doing and my story with anyone you think might be interested! Show them my work through my website, Facebook, add them to my FB page, for Boudoir/goddess sessions or Instagram.

If you know of anyone getting married in the areas I’m going to tell them about me. I especially would love to do weddings on the east coast, Yukon and the Jasper/Banff area.

Follow me on one of these platforms and travel along with me through this year from the comfort of your home. I will be posting daily(unless I don’t have service), I will be showing you the good, crazy, fun and honest of traveling through my Instagram and through blogs I will post 1-5 times a week. You can also subscribe to my blog(more on that in a different post) and get a notification when I write a new blog.

I will be taking landscapes/ streetscapes as I travel and I will be making them available as prints that you can purchase for your home. They will be available as prints, metals and canvases. This is a wonderful way you can support me through my travels and have my art delivered straight to you home. It would mean the world to me if you’d buy prints that speak to you.(More on this in a different post)

Planning this trip:

I don’t want to make this post too long so I’ll keep this part short and I will share more in another blog post.

As you can imagine I will need to plan a lot for this trip. Besides letting go of my apartment, minimizing my monthly costs, saving money, selling all my belongings and buying a new car, I also need to plan what to bring, buy a tent, a cooking element, make my car safer(prevent brake-ins) and so much more I haven’t even thought of yet.

I will be sharing the process over my Instagram story and post and blog post(less often). I will be sharing my ideas, asking for advise/ideas and sharing the in and outs of traveling on a budget.

If you made it through that whole though thank you!(and pat your back) I will be sharing about how my last 4 months in Vancouver will go, including mini sessions I will be offering, special products and my last hurrah before I leave. So if you have ever wanted to get photos done by me now is your last chance until 2020! I will be booking up fast so don’t wait!

As you can imagine I need to save as much as I can so I’ll be working hard until I leave all while trying enjoy life here in Vancouver(hiking, eating at all the amazing restaurants and spending time with my favorite people) as much as I can.

I invite you to follow along! It will be quite an adventure and I’m excited to bring you alone(virtually). So here it all goes!

With love,

Laura ❤️

This wedding was a beautiful day!

Brittany contacted me in April of last year and told me all about her winter wedding dream and I was soooo excited! It was her wished to get married in snow and do photos in the mountains. I was 100% on board and we planned if we had to we would just climb into a truck and hit the mountains to search for snow.

Skip to the day before her wedding, January 26, 2018.

It’s a normal west coast day. Raining cats and dogs in Powell River, BC, but Brittany was still hopeful but it wasn’t looking at all like snow. After the rehearsal, we said our “goodbyes” and “see you on your wedding day!” and parted ways for the night. Just before I headed in to get warm after a rainy day I realized the air was unusually chilly and fresh. “Hmmm smells like snow…”

January 27th, 2018 4 am

It’s snowing. My mom called me in the morning and informed me of the news and we were all so excited for B. Her wedding wish came true!

As I made my way on a very slippery road to her parents’ house where the girls were getting ready I was ecstatic! It’s so beautiful and breathtaking.

The day went on without a hitch. A gorgeous ceremony where B walked down the isle to Ed Sheeran “Perfect” that brought everyone including myself to tears.

Shortly after we climbed into 3 trucks and the whole gang headed out to the mountains for portraits. Just as we were climbing out of the trucks a layer of fog started to set in. Everyone was upset except for me. I told them it was perfect! We walked the spot I picked everyone struggled through the deep snow. We quickly got through the family portraits because everyone was freezing.

Wedding party portraits, done!

I moved to a different location for Brittany and Ryan’s portraits and just as I got them into position the sun came out. It was unbelievably stunning! WOW!

The rest of the day was filled with hot chocolate, yummy food by The Chopping Block, dancing(including Ryan killing it with all the kids: see below) and beautiful speeches.

What a great day!

Brittany wore her grandmother’s wedding ring which has been melted down and is a necklace(see below), I loved it!

Happy for you guys! Much love Brittany + Ryan ❤
