This was an incredibly cold, wet and AMAZING session! These two are high school sweethearts and have been together around 10 years, that’s a serious accomplishment nowadays. They act as if they were still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship, you’ll see. Braeja and Trevor came over to the city from Nanaimo for a sad […]

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s (and Mr. Mom’s) out there! The human race would literally not exist without you, and if it did it would be a much less loving, kind and fun place without you. We can never begin to thank you for sacrificing your happiness, your body and your balanced emotions to bring up into this world. We could never be grateful enough for the millions of diapers you changed, to the endless sleepless nights, the neverending “mom”s for every little thing, for all the hugs+kisses when we are hurt, upset or having a hard day, for believing in us when no one else did, for never giving up on us and for dealing with out ungratefulness, unkindness and loving us no matter what we say, do or act.
We love you, mom.
I know for a fact that I could not be doing what I do today and would not be where I am today without my mom. My mom always told me to find something that I love, to work hard at it, be passionate and then the money will come. She supported me when I constantly changed my mind with what I wanted to do until I finally landed on photography. She always told me that if I did my very best and trusted life, that the money I needed would come; I have yet to prove her wrong. My mom is the strongest person I know. All that I am I get from her, my eyes, my independence, my smile, my determination, my curves, my passion, my hair, my mothering spirit, my heart and so much more.
My career is where it is today because of my mom and I thought in honor of her I’d show my growth in the past 7 years with before and after photos. My mom was the one who encouraged me to go to university which accelerated my growth sooo much, just by simply focusing 2 full years on all things to do with photography and being surrounded by other amazing photographers.
So here you go, mommy. Couldn’t have done it without you. I love you ❤
Oh the gorgeous sepia 😉 😂

My first wedding ever!
Wow, it’s been crazy looking through all these photos and seeing the difference. Honest, I had no idea how far I’d come, 4 years ago when I decided I wanted to see how far I could go with my photography I couldn’t have imagined how far I’d already be, how much I love what I do, and what amazing opportunities I’ve gotten to experience.
The photos before are not horrible, but they lack style, proper editing, color, quality, emotion and depth. I also know that most of those sessions were awkward and didn’t have the flow 90% of my sessions have now. I have learned so much about human phycology, about how to make people feel not only comfortable but truly have fun during my sessions, mind you I can always improve but it is a world of a difference already!
For all my past clients, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am so thankful that you hired me and allowed me to photograph you. You are a massive part of my growth, each session taught me something and I am always learning and growing.
7 Years in and I am so happy where I am but I am not done, I will not stop growing, learning and striving to improve in my photography. I’m excited to see where my work will go from here. I am so inspired and motivated these days.
Once again HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Do something special for your mama, spend quality time with her, put your phone’s away and be in the moment. You wouldn’t be alive without her, that alone is a reason to be thank for her ❤
With all my love,
“We are all so frightened by time; the way things move on, the way things disappear. That’s why we are photographers; We are preservationists, we take pictures to stop time, to commit moments to eternity. Human nature made tangible.” -Ben Ryder from the movie Kodachrome On a slightly stormy Saturday we got together to […]
This session was fun because I discovered a new location, I always love finding new pretty places to take photos. I also got to use the new skytrain, the Evergreen line, to Coquitlam. I really enjoyed that! It’s a great line, and love that there are fewer cars on the road because of it, I […]
Meet Hannah! A beautiful soul and a stunning lady! I hadn’t had so much fun during a session in forever!
We got up bright and early for hair and makeup with the amazing Meagan of Paragon Makeup design. At about 8am Hannah and I got into my car and ventured to the North Shore(North Vancouver) and up Seymour mountain. We started the hike up the mountain and about 1 KM in all of a sudden there was snow on the ground, mind you this was September, we did not expect that! I looked at Hannah and said, “I’m up for it if you are!” She was just as ready as I was so we continued hiking until we got to our destination.
It was incredible! With a nice amount of fresh snow, a layer of fog and the rich colors of the trees, it was literally picture perfect! We wandered around and had a blast chatting and laughing the whole way through boudoir session.
She brought her Blundstones and some fantastic clothing choices that we had fun with. Hannah was so easy going and interesting which made spending time with her such a joy, it felt like I was hanging out with a friend.
So without further ado, ENJOY! ❤
This was a first time for me and I had so much fun! Christian is a very throughtful, successful and experienced Chiropractor, his practice is called Back to Health and is located in the Kitsilano area, I would recommend him to anyone! You can see what he does HERE. It was an honor to work […]
On a beautiful, hot summer day I traveled out to Stewart farm in south Surrey and met the most lovely couple. Anita and her man were so fun to work with. I loved hearing their story and wondering the farm trying to avoid the other groups and photographer(it’s a very busy place!) The two grew […]
Today Maggie wrote me the most beautiful review I have ever received and thought I’d share it and their wedding on the blog today.
So first her kind words:
“Laura did our wedding photography last year and I have to say, we could not be happier. From day one at the “meet and greet” she made us feel comfortable with who she is and really took the time to get to know us as a couple. What was important to her was our interests are, what is important to us and how we live our lives. By doing that, it allowed us to have a wedding album that encapsulates who we are together. After our wedding day, she spent a lot of time with us in choosing our final photographs and putting together an album that looks cohesively correct and highlights the best moments of our day…a fact that I really appreciated. She had so many great products and ways to display our pictures but never made us feel pressured to buy more than we could afford; it was an easy-going experience. In the end, Laura becomes like a friend, as she is so personable, relatable and easy to work with. We highly recommend Laura; her photography is an art that we were so proud to be a part of.”
-Maggie and Kevin
I met Maggie and Kevin through Maggie’s lovely daughter Breanna whom I met many years ago when I first moved to Vancouver and have since worked with a couple times(check her gorgeous outdoor boudoir session here her session was my first outdoor boudoir session and since then have had more than I can count). Breanna recommended me to her mom because we always had so much fun working together. I could not be more honored. I quickly realized where she got her beauty, carefree spirit, perseverance and joy of life from. Her mom! And Kevin is her perfect match. From our first meeting, I knew we would be the perfect match and that I wanted nothing more than to document their wedding.
Their wedding was is one that will always stand out as a favorite. Not because it was the most extravagant, or the most expensive or even the most beautiful but because of the overall experience. Maggie and Kevin did go crazy on everything but they chose the things that were important to them: Food, the Venue, and Photography and invested in those things. The rest they kept simple and had family do what skills they couple give. They also had a wedding planner/day of coordinator which makes such a difference! I encourage couples to at least have a day of coordinator that way you can plan the wedding yourself and organize everything and save money but on the day of the wedding, you get to hand over the reins to someone trusted. You and your family/friends get to be present, have fun and just enjoy the day. The best thing is something is going wrong or if there is anything to fix no one has to worry about it except the coordinator and the bride and groom get to just enjoy the wedding day. The couple should be able to turn off their phones and not have a worry in the world.
Their wedding took place on a sunny September Sunday afternoon at the Pipeshop by Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The day started with Maggie getting her hair done by Eliane Hair + Spa and then her make-up by Denise Elliott Beauty. She came back to their condo to put on her dress from Isabelle’s Bridal. Maggie had the most stunning bouquet from Green Stems, the other florals including the centerpieces and the backdrops were also by Green Stems. The Pipeshop was filled with rentals supplied by A&B Rentals. The delicious family style meal and meat+cheese boards were made and served by White Table Catering. After the ceremony, there were yummy ice cream sundaes which were served by The Welcome parlor and later in the evening pie by Krause Berry Farm and coffee by Jack’s Coffee Bar were served along with the homemade cake by Maggie(she surprised him with it. The cake was topped with a few bicycle gears because Kevin loves mountain biking). And this was all put together and organized by the talented team(Robyn and Tracy) at Smitten Events.
Maggie got ready in their home with her soon to be step daughter and Kevin got ready in their neighbors’ condo with his soon to be stepson and friends.
Once everyone was ready I sent Kevin down to the water to wait while Maggie, her sons (walking her) and I headed down for the first look. When she tapped Kevin on the shoulder and he turned around the waterworks started on everyone’s faces including my own. He couldn’t stop saying how beautiful she was and how excited he was to finally be marrying her. The embraces and wiped away each other’s tears before the rest of the family joined them for a moment to collect themselves and pray.
After a couples minutes we did a couple family photos and then I stole away Maggie and Kevin for bridal portraits. Oh my, that was so much fun! First, we walked down along the water and onto the dock, they also had the most awesome turquoise bikes with baskets and signs that say “Just Married”, they were my favorite part hands down! It was a challenge though keeping Maggies dress out of the chain and gears, it gave me flashbacks to my childhood when numerous flare-pant-legs got trapped in there. But they had so much fun we were all laughing by the end.
Next, they suggested an alley a couples streets up, that I’d never been to, that was pained the coolest/craziest colors. I had so much fun playing with different elements and the strong afternoon sun.
We wondered along Lonsdale Street until we got to the Lonsdale Quay. Maggie and Kevin love spending their lazy morning in the market or grab coffee so of course, we had to incorporated these. I got them to climb up into the Q tower and had some fun with the colors, shapes, and lines on the way down.
So when Maggie and Kevin were dating they “locked up their love and throw away the key” at the Lonsdale key waterfront. Kevin and Robyn from Smitten events decided to surprise Maggie with a new lock but this one for their wedding and marriage. They locked it around their original lock and threw away the keys together. How cute is that? ❤
Maggie’s sons walked the dogs down the aisle ahead of her. She was walked down the aisle by Mark, her lifelong best friend and one of the most important men in her life. While her daughter serenaded her as she walked towards her love Kevin. The whole ceremony was tear-filled-ly beautiful. All their closest family and friends were there including Maggie’s two sons and daughter and Kevin’s daughter, who were all part of the wedding in one way or another.
After the ceremony, we did some fun extended family portraits and then Kevin’s daughter and her boyfriend guided all the guests through a dancing lesson. Almost everyone participated and the new Mr. and Mrs. were the stars of the dance floor.
Overall this wedding was a blast! Everyone laughed and cried with the speakers and during the games, they played throughout the reception.
My favorite elements were the bikes, the lock, the food, the family style dinner and the overall energy and love that surrounded Maggie and Kevin.
Thank you for inviting me to be apart of this special day. It was an honor to capture your family milestone and capture a chapter of your story.
With a heart full of love,

This was a new one and a fun one! I’ve had many families where their first baby was a fur baby and then they added a human baby to the family. These are the families I have photographed many times over. This time their only baby is their furry one. And she is sooooo cute! […]
These two are a little bit nerdy and shy and I kind completely love it! They met through work and have been inseparable since then.
I love hiking with them in Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. It was a gorgeous summer afternoon and the perfect evening for a session.
We wandered and talked about how they met, about their recent disastrous vacation and their goals for the future. We had a blast!
Well, enjoy these lovelies <3
